Inclusion in Sports & Achieving the SDGs

The UNAAWA held an SDG forum at West Coast Eagles on the 23 August 2022. The theme of the forum was “Inclusion in Sports & Achieving the SDGs” which highlighted the achievements of all abilities athletes, how inclusion helps build a stronger community and closing the gaps of inequality in our society. Richard O’Connell, Executive of West Coast Eagles and Hayden Marchetto, Executive of WA All Abilities Football Association, opened the event by showcasing local sporting programs for people with disabilities.


Chaired by the UNAAWA President, Dr. Sandy Chong, attendees were had fun with the live quizzes and were engaged in interacting with amazing panellists: Nicole Moody, Board member of the West Coast Eagles; Brad Brider, Vice President Blind Sports WA; Joshua Hofer OAM, Special Olympics and Paralympics Gold medallist; and Tanya Brown, Director of Special Olympics World Games, who shared their passion and testaments on the subject.

Sponsored by BHP, the forum was well-attended by over 100 guests including the Mayor of Victoria Park, series sponsor, EY Perth, athletes of Special Olympics and Paralympics, UNAAWA members and community partners, and it concluded with light snacks and drinks.
